 Char Devi Darshan of Amritsar, Chintpurni, Jwala Ji, Kangra Ji, Chamunda Devi
Day 01: Arrival Amritsar and Transfer to Hotel.
Golden Temple : Visit the Golden Temple- built in the midst of the holy pool by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1803, it is also known as Darbar Sahib or HarMandir Sahib. The dome of the temple is covered with an estimated 400 kgs of gold leaf; hence it is popular with the name of 'Golden Temple'. The interiors of the temple, like- wise, decorated by inlay work with delicate floral patterns are done with semiprecious stones. Adjoining the pool is Akal Takht, established by the sixth Sikh guru, Guru Hargobind Singh. It is seat of the supreme head of the Sikh religious authority.
Jallianwala bagh : Then visit Jallianwala Bagh- where, on April 13, 1919, British and Gurkha soldiers opened fire on an unarmed forbidden gathering, killing hundreds of civilians.
Retreat ceremony : A visit to Amritsar is not complete if one does not visit Wagah to witness daily beating retreat ceremony at Joint Check post at Wagah is some 25 Kms from Amritsar on Amritsar Lahore Road linking two major towns of Punjab. After Partition lakhs of people had walked on this road in those dark days following division of India. The retreat ceremony attracts thousands tourists from both sides .Indian tourists commute in buses or taxis. Tourists are made to land about 1 km from border and only persons with special permits are allowed entry closer to venue. Border Security Force (BSF) controls the area. India has built stands parallel to road which can accommodate more than 1000 people.
Day 02: Amritsar - Chintpurni ji - Jwala ji:
From Amritsar drive to Chintpurni ji temple, Mata Chintpurni Devi is also known as Mata Shri Chhinnamastika Devi. Devotees have been visiting this shaktipeeth for centuries to pray at the lotus feet of Mata Shri Chhinnamastika Devi. They bring with them their wordly concerns and seek blessing from the Devi. It is believed that if you ask something from the Devi with a true heart, your wish will be granted.
After Darshan proceed to Jawalamukhi. and visit Jawala ji temple also called the “Flaming goddess” or “she of the flaming mouth”. It lies in the valley of beas and is built over some natural jets of combustible gas believed to be a manifestation of the goddess Devi Bhagwati Jawalamukhi. A legend avers that the flames proceed from the mouth of demon Jalandhara, the daitya king whom Shiva over-whelmed with mountains. Night Stay At Mecleodganj in Hotel.
Day 03: Mecleodganj- Kangra- Chamunda:
Attend morning Arti Jawalaji temple and after breakfast proceed to Kangra. Visit Srajeshwari temples in Kangra this temple is dedicated to Sui Mata, the local princess of Chamba who sacrifice her life for people of her kingdom. Colorful paintings on temple wall depict the story of suimata. The style which makes the temple different from others is the shikara style and in top there is a wooden amalaka.
After darshan proceed to visit Chamunda Devi, Also known as Chamunda and charchika, is a fearsome aspect of Devi, The divine Mother and one of the seven matrikas (Mother goddesses). The name is a combination is chanda and munda, two monsters whom Chamunda killed. Here lord Shiva is present in the form of death, destruction & dead bodies along with Devi Chamunda. In the temple the devotees can see scenes from the Devi mahatma, Ramayan and Mahabharat. On either side of the Devi’s image is Hanuman and Bhairo. Night Stay At Mecleodganj in Hotel .
